María Jesús del Blanco, holds a degree in Business Studies from the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) and a Microeconomics of Competitiveness postgraduate at the Orkestra Institute in the University of Deusto. Since 2001 works for Bilbao Ekintza, the economic development agency of the city of Bilbao, gathering experience in various areas such as business promotion, international relations and hosting of events. She is currently the coordinator of the Strategic Sectors department focusing on the smart specialisation of the City which promotes the areas of creative industries, digital economy and advanced services. She has participated in several European projects and networks related to entrepreneurship and the sectors mentioned above, such as the UNESCO Cities of Design for instance.
