Javier Goikoetxea

PhD in Computer Science from the University of Deusto, specialising in Big Data,
mobility and predictive algorithms. Master’s in Management from the University of
Wales (2016). MBA from IE Business School (1998) and a degree in Business
Administration and Management (1997)
A professional with over 25 years’ experience leading business development and
projects in the technology and services sectors. An expert in technological solutions
applied to mobility, connected cars and the Internet of Things (IoT).
In 2001, he created and founded DETECTOR, a company specialising in technology,
telematics and mobility consultancy, which went on to generate an annual turnover of
over €14 million.
In 2013, he established a new company called NEXT SEGUROS, launching the first
car insurance policy that only costs money when the car is in motion. In 2017, he
established GRUPO NEXT, a company specialising in information management and
Big Data, the connected car, the monetisation of information and data analytics. In
2024, he launched NEXT MOBILITY SOLUTIONS, a company specialising in mobility
management and the development of predictive mobility models and smart transport.
In the academic sphere, Dr Goikoetxea is a lecturer in Big Data at the School of
Computer Engineering at the University of Deusto (Bilbao) and a lecturer in Smart
Cities, Innovation and Smart Mobility at The Valley Business School (Madrid). He is a
senior lecturer in Innovation and Digital Transformation at the Faculty of Business
Administration at Francisco Vitoria University (Madrid), a lecturer in Introduction to
Technology at Camilo José Cela University, and a lecturer in Finance and Operations at
Alfonso X el Sabio University. He also collaborates with IE Business School.
Dr Goikoetxea is a regular speaker on topics related to IoT, AI, Big Data, pay-per-use
car insurance, Connected Cars and entrepreneurship.
